An absolutely stunning Colt Python revolver, chambered for .357 Magnum / .38, manufactured in 1961 and presented in outstanding aesthetic condition.

This superb early Python features a 6-inch barrel with the unmistakable full-length ventilated Python rib, complemented by Colt's famous deep polished blued finish. Remarkably, this example retains approximately 99% of its original early-1960s blueing, giving it exceptional visual presence.

The right-hand side is marked “COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.”, while the left-hand side carries the iconic “PYTHON .357” marking. The revolver features a double-action mechanism, polished hammer spur and handsome walnut grips with inset Colt medallions.

The Python has long been regarded as one of Colt's flagship production revolvers, renowned for the quality and smoothness of its action as well as its distinctive styling and exceptionally high standard of finish.

Its status as an icon extends well beyond firearms collecting. The Python became instantly recognisable through appearances in popular culture, including Starsky & Hutch, the Dirty Harry film Magnum Force, and, more recently, as the signature sidearm carried by Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead.

Early examples such as this have become increasingly scarce in the UK, particularly following the 1997–98 handgun prohibitions, and finding one retaining approximately 99% of its original finish is especially noteworthy.

A truly stunning 1961 Colt Python and a superb opportunity for the serious collector. We don't expect an example of this quality to hang around for very long.

Offered for the appropriate Section 7(3) or Section 5 authority.
