A particularly interesting and historically significant 1917 Webley Mk VI revolver, chambered in .455 Webley, with a fascinating Black Watch connection and considerable potential for further research.

This classic British military revolver features a 6-inch barrel, traditional break-open action and chequered hard rubber grips. Most importantly, the revolver is engraved “Capt R.M. Middleton”, connecting it with Captain Ralph Maxwell Middleton.

Middleton was seconded to the Black Watch and was also a member of the Transvaal Scottish. He subsequently served in the Western Desert during the Second World War and, following the war, remained with the Territorial forces, attaining the rank of Major. This personal association elevates the revolver beyond a standard military Webley and provides an excellent foundation for further historical and service research.

The revolver retains its military proof markings and is Broad Arrow stamped, further reflecting its military heritage. It is supplied with a new Certificate of Proof and an excellent period accessory in the form of a 1918-dated leather holster manufactured by R.W. STIBY.

Combining a 1917-dated Webley Mk VI, named officer provenance, Black Watch and Transvaal Scottish connections, military markings and a period 1918 holster, this is a particularly appealing package for the serious British military collector.

Offered for the appropriate Section 7(1), Section 7(3) or Section 5 authority.
