A rare and highly interesting Enfield No.8 Mk1 .22LR Trials Rifle, bearing the early CR324 designation and featuring a 1949 Fazakerley action and metalwork.

This unusual rifle is a pre-production No.8 Mk1, featuring the additional rear-sight mounting option that was under consideration during development. According to the information supplied, its status as a trials model has been verified by renowned Enfield gunsmith Richard Stork.

Of particular interest, this example predates the standard No.8 serial-numbering convention, carrying only the CR324 designation. This, combined with its trials configuration, makes it a considerably more unusual example than a standard production No.8 rifle.

The rifle retains lovely patinated woodwork, together with the correct bolt and iron sights. The forend was replaced during service and bears the serial number A4730, providing another interesting element of the rifle's service history.

Configured with a short butt and rubber butt pad, this is a characterful and historically interesting example of Britain's classic .22 training rifle.

A rare opportunity to acquire an unusual pre-production No.8 Trials Rifle for not much more than the price of a standard production example.
