Right-Handed.

A superb and highly desirable early production Longbranch No.4 MK1 (No Star) .303 Rifle, in beautiful original configuration with matching components and rare features.

Serial Number: 1L937 – confirming it as the 10,937th Longbranch rifle produced. With Longbranch manufacturing only around 15,000 MK1 rifles before switching to the MK1* specification, this example sits firmly within the scarce early production run.

The receiver is dated 1941, with a matching bolt and receiver, a correct early Longbranch round button cocking piece, and a seldom-seen Longbranch-marked MK1 rear sight. Much of the metalwork is Longbranch-marked, underscoring its originality.

It is fitted with a 1942-dated Longbranch 2-groove barrel, numbered to the rifle, gauging at 0.30375, ensuring it remains a strong shooter. The gorgeous walnut stock, with early pattern magazine cut-off relief, is numbered to the rifle and fitted with a short butt.

An exceptionally rare feature is the inclusion of a 1941-dated web sling, itself extremely scarce, showing only light age-related fraying. Adding to its collectability, the rifle bears Union of South Africa acceptance markings on the breech.

A truly stunning early Longbranch rifle – both a fine collectible and a capable shooter.
