Serial Number: 1L4698 – placing it as the 14,698th No.4 MK1 rifle produced by Longbranch. With Longbranch producing only approx. 15,000 MK1 rifles before transitioning to the MK1*, this rifle is one of the last ~300 examples ever made in this early configuration.
The receiver is dated 1941, with a matching butt, a correct Longbranch button cocking piece, and the seldom-seen Longbranch-made MK1 rear sight.
It is fitted with a Longbranch 1942-dated 2-groove barrel, numbered to the rifle, gauging at 0.30375, ensuring it remains in strong shooting condition.
This rifle represents not only a superb shooter’s piece but also a rare and desirable collector’s item from the very earliest period of Longbranch No.4 production.
