An exceptional 1918 dated Lithgow No1 MKIII. This rifle is unusual in that it started life as a MKIII* but at some point the * was barred out and the magazine cut off fitted.
Lithgow stopped producing MKIIIs in 1916 and started MKIII* production.
Rebarrelled in August 1944.
London nitro proofed.
Marked 4MD to the 4th Military Division of Australia, which is South Australia.
Matching serial numbers to receiver, bolt, barrel & nosecap.
Barrel gauges as new at 0.30225 & has clear sharp rifling.
